Classical guitarist, Robert Sequoia has released five CDs of his performances. Formerly a resident of Santa Fe, NM, Robert Sequoia has enlivened many weddings on the Hawaiian Island of Kauai.
The fourth largest of the Pacific Island chain, Kauai has the state’s fewest signs economic development and is famous for its beaches and mountains. Kauai also has several cultural attractions, among them are:
– The Kauai Mokihana Festival: This September event began with a 1984 concert and composers’ contest created by a trio of musicians known as Malie. The event now showcases Hawaii’s traditional and contemporary culture, with offerings such as hula, lectures, musical and vocal performances.
– Waimea Town Celebration: Located near the beach where explorer James Cook disembarked in 1778, Weimea Town commemorates its heritage with a nine-day festival. Proceeds from the event’s drumming, hula, and other attractions benefit nonprofit agencies.
– Festival of Lights: A tree made from Spam cans, a surfing Santa, and holiday decorations highlight this December event. Celebrations take place in the town of Lihue, the political and commercial hub of the island.
